Dimitrios Fotiadis

Dimitrios I. Fotiadis received the degree in chemical engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and the Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering and materials science from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He is currently a Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Ioannina, Greece, where he is also the Director of the Unit of Medical Technology and Intelligent Information Systems, and is also an Affiliated Member of Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Dept. of Biomedical Research. He was a Visiting Researcher at the RWTH, Aachen, Germany, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston. He has coordinated and participated in more than 250 R&D funded projects. He is the author or co-author of more than 300 papers in scientific journals, 500 papers in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and more than 50 chapters in books. He is also the author/editor of 30 books. His work has received more than 19,000 citations. His research interests include multiscale modelling of human tissues and organs, intelligent wearable/implantable devices for automated diagnosis, processing of big medical data, machine learning, sensor informatics, image informatics, and bioinformatics.

Arlindo Oliveira

Arlindo Oliveira nasceu em Angola e viveu em Moçambique, Portugal, Suíça e Califórnia. Tem uma licenciatura pelo Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) e um doutoramento pela Universidade da Califórnia em Berkeley. É professor catedrático do IST, presidente do Instituto de Sistemas e Computadores (INESC), administrador não executivo da Caixa Geral de Depósitos, investigador do INESC-ID, membro do Conselho Nacional de Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação e do Conselho Consultivo do Painel de Ciência e Tecnologia do Parlamento Europeu (STOA). Publicou três livros, traduzidos em diversas línguas, e centenas de artigos científicos e de divulgação. Foi administrador de diversas empresas e instituições e presidente do IST, da Associação Portuguesa para a Inteligência Artificial e do INESC-ID. Foi diretor do nó português da rede europeia de dados biológicos ELIXIR e investigador do CERN, do INESC, dos Cadence Research Laboratories e do Electronics Research Lab em Berkeley. É membro da Academia da Engenharia e membro sénior do IEEE. Recebeu diversos prémios e distinções, entre os quais o prémio Universidade Técnica de Lisboa / Santander por excelência na investigação, em 2009.

Mário Dinis Ribeiro

Mário Dinis-Ribeiro graduated in Medicine in 1996, earned his Doctorate Degree in 2005 and Agregação in 2009 from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP). He is Senior Consultant and Head of the Gastroenterology Department of the IPO-Porto and Guest Full Professor at FMUP (since 2014) and Group Leader at CI-IPO / RISE. His research interests focus on improving early diagnosis and noninvasive management of gastrointestinal tumors, leading several inter-institutional national and international projects with over 300 scientific articles published (HI=49). He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the PhD programme in Clinical and Health Services Research at FMUP. He is currently the Past-President of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Endoscopy. He won the BIAL Award in Clinical Medicine in 2018 and co-authored the Pfizer Award in 2016.

Filipa Fixe

Filipa Fixe holds a degree in Chemical Engineering, a Master’s degree in Biochemical Engineering and a PhD in Bio-Nanotechnology in the development of DNA chips with electronic addressing for the detection of genetic mutations. Filipa Fixe attended the Lisbon Medical School for three years, holds a Post-graduation in management by the Catholic University and has concluded the Singularity University Innovation Program on Exponential Medicine (2018). She is the author and co-author of several publications in international scientific journals and conferences in the field of bioelectronics, biomedicine, biotechnology, education and eHealth. Her professional career is characterized by a strong presence in the areas related to technology and health management and evaluation of SME´s in biotech and medtech. Nowadays, Filipa Fixe is an Executive Board Member at Glintt. She is an Invited Assistant Teacher at Universidade de Lisboa, Board Member at APDSI – the Association for the Promotion and Development of the Information Society and member of the Supervisory Board of Innostars – EITHealth.
